The Institute of Engineering Construction in the School of Civil Engineering, Chongqing University has a staff of 22 people, which includes 4 professors, 4 associate professors and 14 lecturers. The Institute includes Modern Construction Research Centre, Building Information Modeling Center, High Performance Computing Center and Research Office of Space Structures. The research areas of the institute cover construction and informatization of high-rise buildings, construction method and safety control of deep excavations, construction of long-span steel structures, analysis and construction method of membrane structures and project management. Through theoretical and experimental research-based study, the institute focuses on transformation and application of research results in national and local engineering construction. The institute is committed to long-term research work in the field of civil engineering construction and has so far completed 60 research projects including 2 projects sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation. In recent years, the institute has published more than 160 domestic and foreign journal papers, edited 10 standards including national standards, industry and local standards, edited 6 national and provincial construction methods, won 25 national invention patents, obtained 5 provincial awards and published 12 monographs and textbooks. The Institute has made important contributions in all levels such as harnessing professionals for the constructions and economic development for the whole country and Chongqing as well.
